Short answer: Turkey admits cats and dogs with a microchip, a rabies vaccination given after the chip, a titer of at least 0.5 IU/ml and an export certificate issued by the departure country no earlier than 2 days before travel. After the first titer test you wait 90 days from the date of the result, and one passenger may bring at most 2 animals.
Step by step
- Microchip first.
- Rabies vaccination after the chip, recorded with the vaccine name, batch and date.
- Blood sample at least 30 days later, shipped chilled to an accredited laboratory.
- 90 days from the date of the result. Keep boosters on time and you will not need to wait again on later trips.
- One or two days before the flight: the AQTA international veterinary certificate.
Flying
There are direct flights from Baku to Istanbul and Ankara. On AZAL a cat or small dog can fly in the cabin if it weighs up to 8 kg together with the carrier, and the airline must be told in advance. Larger dogs travel in the hold; check the rules and fees of the airline you book.
Use our deadline calculator to work out your dates. PetMapa prepares the documents turnkey, from A to Z, including the blood draw, the shipment to the lab and the AQTA certificate. Send a photo of the pet passport on WhatsApp or Telegram and we will check it for free.
