Bringing a Dog from Ukraine to the US: CDC Rules in Plain Language

Ukraine is on the CDC's high-risk list for dog rabies. What that means for age, the titer test, the CDC form and the animal care facility booking, and how to route the trip without flights from Ukraine.

Published: Updated: 4 min read

Short answer: yes, you can bring a dog from Ukraine to the US. Because Ukraine is a CDC high-risk country, the dog must be at least 6 months old, microchipped before its rabies vaccination, have a titer from a CDC-approved laboratory (blood at least 30 days after vaccination and at least 28 days before arrival), a vaccination certificate endorsed by Ukraine's official vet, a CDC Dog Import Form and a reservation at a CDC-registered animal care facility (ACF) at the arrival airport. Without a valid titer, the dog spends 28 days in quarantine at the ACF.

These federal rules apply to dogs; cats follow airline and state requirements. PetMapa prepares the documents turnkey, from A to Z. Send a photo of the pet passport on WhatsApp or Telegram and we will check it for free.
