EU animal health certificate for travelling with your pet

To enter an EU country from Ukraine with a cat or dog, you need an EU animal health certificate signed by an official veterinarian. We plan the preparation around your date: we check the microchip and vaccinations, take the titre blood sample, arrange the F-1, book the certificate appointment and check every date.

Step-by-step guide: Leaving Ukraine with a Dog or Cat: What Foreigners Need to Know

Who it’s for

  • Travelling to the EU with a cat, dog or ferret

A holiday, a move or a family visit, if your pet travels with you for non-commercial purposes, this is the certificate you need.

  • Doing EU paperwork for the first time

We explain the order, microchip, vaccinations, titre test, F-1 and certificate, and make sure no deadline slips.

  • Someone else is travelling with your pet

If another person accompanies your pet, a written declaration is required and the trip must be within 5 days of the owner’s travel. We’ll prepare it all properly.

  • No titre test yet

We take the blood sample ourselves and send it to an accredited laboratory, and work out straight away when the certificate can be issued.

How it works

Requirements depend on the destination country, the type of animal and the travel date. Please check transport conditions with your airline or transport company.

  1. 01

    You message or call us

Tell us the destination, the departure date and what your pet already has. If there is a pet passport, send us photos.

  2. 02

We check the documents and dates

We cross-check the microchip, rabies vaccination and titre test and work out the earliest date your pet can travel.

  3. 03

    Microchip, vaccination and titre test

The microchip must be implanted before the rabies vaccination. We take the titre blood sample at least 30 days after vaccination, and at least 90 days must pass between the sample and the certificate. All procedures are done in-house.

  4. 04

    F-1 before departure

A few days before the trip we arrange the Form No. 1 veterinary certificate at the state veterinary hospital, the EU certificate is not issued without it.

  5. 05

    Appointment and certificate

The certificate is issued by the border inspection units of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, in Kyiv or on the way to the border. Appointments can be a week ahead, so we book early and prepare the full set of documents.

  6. 06

    Final check

We cross-check the details on the certificate, passport and declaration so that there are no questions at the EU border.

Documents you may need

This list is indicative. The final set depends on the destination country, the type of animal and the travel date.

  • EU animal health certificate: signed by an official veterinarian
  • ISO 11784/11785 microchip: implanted before the rabies vaccination
  • Rabies vaccination: valid on the travel date

What to send us to get started

That’s enough for us to give you a price and draw up a plan straight away. If something’s missing, don’t worry: we’ll find out the rest ourselves.

  1. 1Destination, route and departure date
  2. 2Photos of the pet passport: your pet’s details, microchip, vaccinations
  3. 3The titre test result, if you already have one
  4. 4Who will accompany your pet: you or someone else
  5. 5Number of animals: up to five per certificate

How quickly it’s done

The longest part is the wait after the titre test: the certificate can be issued no earlier than 90 days after the blood sample. So if there is no titre test yet, start at least 4 months before the trip. The certificate itself is valid for 10 days from issue until the check at the EU border.
