Travelling with a pet to Central Asia: what you usually need to prepare

Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are popular choices for relocation or long trips with a pet. We take care of the procedures and prepare the documents in the right order and at short notice.

Bringing pets into Central Asian countries usually involves a veterinary certificate and proof of rabies vaccination.

The details — vaccination timing, microchip requirements, additional tests — vary from country to country. We take the preparation off your hands: we carry out the procedures and issue and check the documents, so that you can leave without delay.

Preparation stages

Requirements depend on the destination country, the type of animal and the travel date. Please check transport conditions with your airline or transport company.

  1. 01

    Confirming the destination

As a rule, the first thing we find out is which country in the region you’re going to and when, and which documents your pet already has.

  2. 02

    Vaccinations and identification

A valid rabies vaccination is often required, and in many cases other vaccines and a microchip as well.

  3. 03

    Issuing the certificate

Shortly before the trip, a veterinary certificate in the official format is issued — we take care of this.

  4. 04

    Document check

We make sure the microchip number and vaccination dates match in the passport and certificate.

  5. 05

    Handing over the documents

We hand over the ready package of documents for your pet.

Things to keep in mind

  • In many countries of the region, other vaccines may be required in addition to rabies.
  • The requirements of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and other countries in the region do not fully match, so they are worth checking separately.
  • If you’re travelling by car, make sure you know where there is veterinary control at the border.
  • If you have several pets, veterinary documents are issued for each one separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is a microchip needed to enter Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan?
In many cases a microchip is required or recommended. If your pet doesn’t have one, we’ll implant it ourselves as part of the preparation — it’s already included in the price.
What will the ready document package include?
As a rule, a pet passport with microchip and vaccination records and a veterinary certificate in the official format. We’ll tell you the exact set for your destination country once you get in touch — and prepare everything ourselves.
Can we bring a cat and a dog at the same time?
Yes. A cat and a dog sometimes need different vaccinations, and documents are prepared for each pet separately — we’ll do all of this in one go.
Are the requirements the same in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan?
Not entirely: the core set is similar, but the details, such as the list of vaccinations, differ. Tell us your destination country — we’ll prepare the documents specifically for it.
