How to check your pet’s documents before a flight
A typo in the chip number or dates in the wrong order — and questions may come up at the border. Here’s how to go through the documents yourself and what to check first.
The UK is known for its strict approach to bringing in animals, and its requirements differ from the EU’s in the details. We take care of the veterinary side and put together the complete set of documents at short notice.
After leaving the European Union, the UK kept its own rules for bringing in pets. The logic is similar to the EU’s — microchip, rabies vaccination, certificate — but there are notable differences that are easy to miss without experience.
Logistics are a separate topic: bringing pets into the UK is often tied to specific arrival routes. This is general information.
Requirements depend on the destination country, the type of animal and the travel date. Please check transport conditions with your airline or transport company.
A microchip and a vaccination given after microchipping are usually required. We do both ourselves.
A rabies antibody titre test is not needed in every case. We’ll establish this straight away and, if necessary, take the blood sample ourselves and send it to the laboratory.
Dogs usually need to be treated by a vet within a strictly defined window before arrival, and the treatment recorded in the documents. Getting the timing right matters.
Before departure you need a veterinary certificate — we issue it ourselves and check all the dates and entries.
Entry rules can change — check them on the official websites before you travel.
Leave your details — a specialist will get in touch, give you the price and timeline, and then take care of the documents for you.
