To Turkey with your pet: how people usually prepare for entry

Turkey is a popular destination for both holidays and relocation. If you’re going there with a cat or dog, we’ll carry out all the necessary procedures and prepare the documents quickly.

Bringing pets into Turkey usually requires a microchip, a valid rabies vaccination and a veterinary certificate.

In some cases a titre test may also be needed. We take care of the preparation and documents and plan everything so that you don’t have to postpone your departure.

Preparation stages

Requirements depend on the destination country, the type of animal and the travel date. Please check transport conditions with your airline or transport company.

  1. 01

    Trip details

As a rule, we first discuss the travel date, the number of animals and which documents they already have.

  2. 02

    Microchip and vaccination

A microchip and rabies vaccination are often required: we implant the chip and give the vaccination in-house.

  3. 03

    Titre test — if needed

A titre test is sometimes required. If so, we take the blood sample ourselves and send it to the laboratory.

  4. 04

    Veterinary certificate

A veterinary certificate is issued before departure — we take care of this part.

  5. 05

    Check and handover

We cross-check the dates and microchip number in the passport and certificate once more, then hand the documents over to you.

Things to keep in mind

  • Whether a titre test is needed for Turkey depends on the country you’re travelling from and your pet’s vaccination history — we’ll check this for your trip.
  • If you’re travelling by car, make sure you know which border crossings have veterinary control.
  • A veterinary certificate is valid for a limited time, so it is issued shortly before the trip.
  • If you plan to live in Turkey, you may need to register your pet locally after arrival — this is worth checking separately.
